The only real highlight of the show (apart from LUG Radio of course
) was having a play with Looking Glass. It's very nice - once I learnt how to use it properly! It uses a combination of the mouse and keyboard to navigate, and runs at a decent speed. What impressed me most about it was the hardware it was running on - a (reasonably) standard AMD 1800+ desktop w/Nvidia card. It was running on top of Sun's Java Desktop System which is also fairly slick (from a users POV - it's just a polished GNOME on SUSE to the rest of us).
All the usual suspects were there - Red Hat, SUSE/Novell, IBM - but the show was disappointing. It had a real 'suit' feel to it (except the .org village - there was noticable difference in attire!), freebies were in very short supply, and the whole thing just felt small.
In short: I'd go again, but only in conjunction with some sort of get together - the show itself wasn't worth the trip.
