For those of you who are interested, this keysigning will take part at some point during LRLUK '08 - don't know when yet - but I'm on the list of speakers (erk!)
Anyway, to make things a little bit easier this year, than previous years, I have created a nice little web application that allows me to collect your keys in one place - then, closer to the day, I will generate a list and circulate it to all the participants.
This list will contain the Userids and the fingerprints for the keys for all those involved.
At the keysigning party, each person on the list will be asked to confirm that the fingerprint and userids listed on this document is correct, by reading off their fingerprint from the list, and confirming it is correct. This generally saves the tedious exchanging of little bits of paper that get lost easily.
After this, a line will be formed, and a person from the end of the line will move down the line, exchanging IDs with each person as they go. The pair will verify each other's identities, and check each other off on their list. Then, as that person passes down the line, the next person will move down the line, etc etc. This means that everyone gets to check everyone elses id, in an organised manner (and the last person just has to stand there instead of going for a walk - SHOTGUN!)
Anyway, I'll post more details about how the keysigning process works as we go along.
On the day, you will be expected to bring with you the following
- A copy of your key's fingerprint
- A copy of the list of fingerprints and IDs (will be emailed to all participants before the event)
- Some form of government Identification - this MUST be a photo-id, and MUST contain your full name (as shown on your key)
- Yourself
Hopefully, this will be as painless a keysigning as possible.
If you wish to join in the Keysigning - please - paste your public key (ascii armored) into
http://keysign.sourceguru.org/
Closing for this is midnight on the 15th/16th July.
On the 16th July, I will generate the list and send it to each participant, along with further instructions.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
I hope to see you there!
